NetSuite Editions And Pricing : Selecting The Best Edition For Your Business

NetSuite Editions and Pricing

NetSuite ERP has multiple editions and selecting the best one for you becomes confusing if you a buyer of NetSuite. When you talk to multiple partners or consultants, you might be further confused as they recommend different editions.

While you select NetSuite modules you would need for your business functions, you might want to go with only NetSuite Customer relationship Management (CRM) or you might want to go with only financials and add additional modules like inventory management, project management, or manufacturing which are industry specific later during the implementation cycle.

NetSuite CRM includes sales force automation, marketing automation and Customer service management.

NetSuite editions are selection of base and add-on modules to meet a specific industry need for a bundled price.

To make things easy let us explain with an example:

If you go to a hotel, you will get Ala-Carte or buffet, the same applies with NetSuite editions. You can buy the individual modules (Ala-Carte) or you might want to go with specific edition (buffet).

Commonly used NetSuite editions are:

  • Financial Edition
  • Service Edition
  • Manufacturing Edition
  • Wholesale and Distribution Edition

NetSuite Levels vs NetSuite Editions

People also get confused between NetSuite editions and NetSuite NetSuite levels.

Once you identify which edition you want to buy you can then decide which level you should be within that edition.

Each edition of NetSuite will have 3 levels which is defined based on the number of users you are going to use.

NetSuite Limited Edition / Light Edition: NetSuite provides this level for companies who are below 50 employees and would need to use NetSuite for less than 10 users. This edition is generally used by small businesses and startups

NetSuite Mid-Market Edition: The mid-Market edition can be used by companies who are between 50 to 999 employees. There is no cap on the users you can buy in this editions. The price of this edition is bit on the higher side which prevents smaller companies from buying this edition.

NetSuite Enterprise Edition: The enterprise edition is the largest edition and is geared towards larger companies, typically who are more than 1000 employees. There is no restriction on the number of users which you can buy in this edition.

Although there are different levels in NetSuite for different scale of businesses, There are no much differences in the functionality between the price levels.

Selecting The Right NetSuite Edition

Now since we know which level you should select, let us focus on the approach to select the edition itself.

To select the right edition, I suggest you first select the modules (Ala-Carte) which fit for your business model. Once you know which add-on modules are required you can then check if those modules are available in the buffet(Industry specific editions of NetSuite).

The difference among edition is the combination of modules available to implement. You can always add additional modules to each NetSuite Edition.

Ala-Carte Or Industry Specific Edition – Which One To Select

Some times buying Ala-Carte is more cheaper then having a buffet if you do not need everything added in the buffet. Similarly buying NetSuite modules Ala-Carte sometimes is cheaper then going for industry specific editions.

Do compare between multiple editions of NetSuite and the Ala-Carte pricing to get the best fit for you.

It is always recommended you work with a NetSuite consultant or a NetSuite solution provided to do a right comparison.

Be cautious of a sales team which simply tries to push modules to increase deal value. Remember you can always buy advanced add-on modules later when needed.

What Is SuiteSuccess?

NetSuite introduced SuiteSuccess as an alternative to its traditional pricing model and implementation strategy. With NetSuite SuiteSuccess you can get access to predefined industry specific workflows and industry specific dashboards.

NetSuite used its wealth of multiple years of serving the market with its SaaS offering to create canned process and reporting platform.

NetSuite introduced it’s specialized edition called SuiteSuccess in contrast to its standard edition so they can better serve the small and medium businesses and provide them with a faster go-live.

Like there are Editions and levels in the standard editions, there are also levels in SuiteSuccess.

These levels are called as:

SuiteSuccess Starter: For companies with upto 50 employees

SuiteSuccess Standard: For companies with 51-499 employees

SuiteSuccess Premium: For companies with 500-999 employees

NetSuite also derived a new SuiteSuccess methodology for implementation to achieve customer go-lives in less than 100 days.

When Should You Use SuiteSuccess Editions?

SuiteSuccess licensing options provide you with a default multi-subsidiary environment for a single country. This means that if you can create multiple subsidiaries in one single country. Apart from this you will have options for industry specific dashboards and workflows which can be installed as bundles in NetSuite.

Some customers want to buy NetSuite SuiteSuccess because they get the single country multi-subsidiary option at a much cheaper cost whereas some customers buy it because it provides them with standard predefined dashboard.

We recommend you use NetSuite SuiteSuccess only if you do not have your predefined processes and are good to adopt NetSuites standardized processes. A start-up or a mid-sized business would be a good fit to use NetSuite SuiteSuccess.

If you are a company who has been operational for many years, and you have built your own business processes, we recommend using NetSuite standard processes and not NetSuite SuiteSuccess.

Conclusion:

Oracle NetSuite is a powerful software which helps your manage your financials as well as other business processes. Whit the variety of modules available it is necessary to select the right editions while you purchase the licences.

While you select the edition it is also necessary to select the right level for that edition that suite your business.
